Petty Polls is a site for voting on unimportant questions. Voting is free. You can optionally add funds to give your own vote more weight, and we show both tallies side by side.

By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use it.

Free votes are limited to one per browser per question, enforced with a cookie. That stops casual double-voting and nothing more - clearing cookies or opening a private window defeats it, and we make no claim that the free tallies are a rigorous survey. Treat them as directional.

Don't use scripts, bots, or automated means to vote. We may remove votes and block access if you do.

Adding funds lets you put weight behind a vote you have already cast. Weight is priced on a curve, so each additional vote on the same question costs more than the last.

Funds are non-refundable, carry no cash value, cannot be withdrawn or transferred, and never pay out. There is no prize, no wager, and no element of chance. You are paying to add weight to your own vote on a trivial question, and nothing else.

As a courtesy, we may refund unspent funds at our discretion if you ask within the window our payment processor allows, generally around six months from purchase. Email us and we'll consider it. After that window our processor can no longer return money to the original card, so we can't offer refunds. Spent funds are never refundable.

We donate a share of funds paid in to charitable causes, as described on the about page. That is a pledge we make out of our own proceeds; you are not donating, and no part of your payment is collected on a charity's behalf.

Funds do not expire. If we ever close the site, we'll give reasonable notice and, where practical, refund unspent balances that are still within the window our processor allows.

Adding funds creates an account using the email address you give our payment processor. We use that address to identify your balance and to send you a sign-in link when you ask for one. We don't send marketing.

Keep your sign-in link private - anyone who has it can use your balance.

You can suggest a question. Suggestions are emailed to us and are not published, stored on the site, or shown to anyone else. We may write a poll based on your idea, reword it, or ignore it, and we owe you nothing for it. Don't send anything confidential.

We may add, reword, or close questions, change how weight is priced, and update these terms. If we change something that materially affects funds you have already added, we'll say so on the site. Continuing to use it after a change means you accept it.

The site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. We don't promise it will be available, accurate, or free of errors.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the site is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California.
